Staff at the Hillsboro Medical Center nursing home were hesitant to call the syndicated TV program Missing Persons or the National Guard or the local law enforcement agencies.
Still, Daisy was missing.
She wasn’t sleeping under the nurses’ desk, resting in any of the offices and she wasn’t anywhere in the Sun Room. (more…)

Taking a short cut to school, as most kids will do, Joyce Crotty would cut across the wide expanse of the hospital’s front lawn.
Never thinking she would one day work in a building that today is being built on that very same front lawn.
Actually, when Joyce left Hillsboro High School for college at Fargo, she was determined to be a home ec teacher. (more…)

Bluesox Legion team beats Mayville-Portland, Gardner

The Central Valley-Hillsboro Bluesox Legion baseball team improved to 5-2 Tuesday with two wins over Gardner.
The CV-H Legion team topped Gardner 14-0 and 8-7 on the Hillsboro field.
The Sox on Sunday beat Mayville-Portland twice, 23-5 and 6-4.
Aaron Meyer didn’t allow a hit in the 5-inning 14-0 win. The left-hander struck out five Gardner batters.
Chase Luchsinger picked up the win in the second game.
The Bluesox will be playing a “ton of baseball” in July, said manager Mark Rerick. The team has had a slow start to the summer, the manager added.
“We’re a sporadic hitting team, but we made up for it (Tuesday) by being selective at the plate and aggressive on the base paths.”
Dusty Brend and Nick Foley were the winning pitchers in the MP doubleheader.
