Subway is coming to Hillsboro.

Business partners Dave Windom and Steve Madson plan to open the franchise fast-food restaurant in August.

Construction is expected to start soon on the lot directly north of Stop-n-Go.

The Hillsboro Subway will employ a staff of 20, according to Windom. 

The business partners’ building permit for a $410,000 structure was approved by the Hillsboro City Commission Monday night. The two Hillsboro businessmen were given a 5-year, 100 percent tax exemption on the building.

Jackie Halvorson will manage the new Hillsboro restaurant.

Windom and Madson own and operate MW Cornheads and MW Propane on the south edge of Hillsboro.
