Hillsboro Business Association members, already planning on their April 5 free pancake breakfast, are planning months ahead for their Mother’s and Father’s Day promotions.
Meanwhile, HBA president Teran Brown hopes to have at least 30 of the “Welcome to Hillsboro” banners hanging once more from the city light poles on Caledonia Ave. and Main Street.
The more than 100 banners were taken down recently to inventory the banners damaged by the state’s weather extremes.
More than 30 survived the wind and cold since they were placed on Hillsboro’s streets before the 2006 summer celebration.
However, the remaining and saved “Welcome to Hillsboro” banners might not include the sponsoring business or organization.
Brown, meantime, is also exploring replacement costs of the welcome banners.
The banners and other issues concerning the local business community were discussed Wednesday at the HBA March meeting attended by nearly 20 members.
The annual free pancake breakfast will be served Saturday, April 5.
Dan Christianson reported that his “mixers and flippers” are on board. He enlisted the help of the HBA members meeting Wednesday at the Main Street Community Center.
HBA members take advantage of the pancake breakfast to visit with both community residents, Christianson said. Provided they have time to get out of the kitchen or away from the serving line, he added.
Brown, a business partner at Hometown Aditude, was anxious to return the “Welcome to Hillsboro’ banners to the city’s most-traveled streets.
“We have to get some color back on those streets.”
Brown was also pleased that the members wanted to continue the Mother’s and Father’s Day drawings that have proved popular in recent years.
Brown was coordinating her second HBA monthly meeting as the group’s new president.
Amy O’Brien of Amy’s Floral and Coffee House is the 2008 HBA vice president. Druggist Randy Habeck is the HBA secretary. Betsy Tate is the organization’s treasurer.
