New Hillsboro business partners touch base with HBA members

October 12, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Beth Christianson-Melby and Teran Brown, partners in the new advertising and marketing agency opening downtown Hillsboro, met with Hillsboro Business Association members this week.
The two entrepreneurs have clients on board and are “excited” about entering into the privately-owned business world, all centered around their location on Caledonia Ave. in the heart of downtown Hillsboro.
The two women are moving into the old bank building most recently owned by Connie Kamesch. The building was once Hillsboro’s post office.
Brown, from Bismarck, lives outside Cummings. Christianson-Melby and husband Doug moved to Hillsboro four years ago.
The two most recently worked for a Grand Forks ad agency.
“We were both tired of the commute,” they told HBA members meeting Wednesday at the Main Street Community Center.
The new business location, located in one of the oldest buildings downtown, features oak paneling and its original tin ceiling.
“It’s gorgeous,” said Christianson-Melby.
The business partners “hope” to move into the location next week.
In addition to strategic market planning and website development, the new business will also feature a conference room, which will be made available to the business community.
“It will be another service available to the community,” said Christianson-Melby.
Jane Halvorson, manager of the Hillsboro Ambulance Service, was also introduced to HBA members Wednesday.
Halvorson, who lives in Galesburg, has been a paramedic 12 years. She started work in the EMT field in 1989.
Not surprisingly, the Hillsboro Ambulance Service needs people, said Halvorson.
“We really are looking for help.”
But so is every ambulance service in the country, she added.
She asked HBA members to continue to support their employees who are ambulance squad members.
Your contributions to the service, in this way, are invaluable, she explained.
Halvorson is in the process of planning EMT classes for the community.
