Hillsboro School District and Mayville State University will be opening a new preschool program at Hillsboro Elementary School this fall.
The program will be open to all children who will be four years old or older before September 1, 2007 and who are not already enrolled in kindergarten. There will be two separate sections of the preschool — one held three days per week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) and the other two days per week (Tuesday and Thursday).
The preschool will start classes Tuesday, September 4 and will follow the Hillsboro School calendar until the program ends on Friday, May 16.
Preschool hours will be 8:30 a.m. – 3:20 p.m. Transportation to the CHEERS program and other daycares located within the city of Hillsboro will be provided for those families needing extended care.
Mayville State will continue to operate its preschool program housed in the Hillsboro Armory. Students currently enrolled there will have the option of attending the preschool program at the elementary school for either the two-day session or three- day session.
The preschool will be offered free of charge to all students who qualify for Head Start services. Families who do not qualify for Head Start will be charged a $10 fee per day. The fee will cover child outcomes, materials, additional staff as necessary and other program related expenses. Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided by the program.
Special education services will be provided on-site to all students who qualify for services by the GST Special Education Unit.
If you have any questions about the preschool program or you would like to enroll your son or daughter in the program, contact Doreen Cerkowniak at the Child Development Programs at 788-4868 or 636-4047.
