HBA considering webpage advantages

In the spirit of yesterday, at the same time recognizing where people today find information, the Hillsboro Business Association is considering incorporating a webpage to be used as a vehicle not only to promote the town but to also act as a welcome wagon.
Couples and new families are moving to Hillsboro, HBA members acknowledged this week.
What the new residents are not receiving, HBA members know, is a welcome wagon package, a time-honored practice adopted by civic groups everywhere, Hillsboro included in past years.
Rather than extending a welcome wagon package, the Hillsboro Business Association is hoping a webpage, complete with links to other civic groups, including the city, school and medical center, in addition to member businesses will serve as a welcoming package for new residents.
HBA members meeting Wednesday at The Other Place endorsed the idea. The HBA webpage with links to other websites will offer a complete record of the town’s services.
“People will be able to find out everything they need to know about Hillsboro, what they need to do when moving into town, in addition to what our businesses offer new residents, for instance,” said Gail Mooney, HBA vice president.
The information while valuable will prove beneficial to new residents, especially, explained HBA president Neil Nelson.
“What we once offered in welcome wagon packages can be offered in webpage coupons.”
Homes are being sold in town, said Nelson. “We have new families and young couples moving here. Plus, we’ll have the Prairie View Addition bringing in more new families. We can easily help facilitate their move here.”
If adopted and incorporated by the local business group, the webpage will, of course, be a tool available in promoting the business community and Hillsboro in general, HBA members are convinced.
It’s another example where we can be proactive in promoting our town, HBA members said this week.
